Kutnia

From the centuries old silk weaving heritage and tradition of Gaziantep, Turkey comes Kutnia, the cutting-edge luxury ready-to-wear collection that blends ancient Kutnu weaving mastery with modern innovation and classic style.

Kutnia’s proprietary weaving technique is rooted in the floss silk-warped and cotton-wefted “palace cloth” -- uniquely indigenous to Gaziantep – which for centuries was used to make the royal kaftans of sultans and sultanas and later for the vestments of Ottoman and European nobility. For more than five centuries, Kutna cloth has been highly sought after and coveted the world over. The updated technique imbues each meticulously tailored Kutnia garment with a visual and textural richness that perfectly complements the collection’s majestic color palette and visionary contemporary silhouettes. The look is worldly, polished and exceptionally luxurious, worthy of heirloom status in any sophisticated wardrobe.

Through this collection, Kutnia founder and visionary Jülide Kunukoglu is helping to sustain and re-energize Gaziantep’s weaving tradition and heritage – a legacy dating to the origins of the Silk Road. The result of intensive research and development, Kutnia’s technology-driven update of the Kutna weaving tradition has helped reinvigorate a culturally significant community and tradition as it expands output and international availability of this time-honored royal and ancient fabric.

Kutnia’s designs make spectacular use of Kutna’s unequalled capacity for textural and visual variation – an attribute that gives each piece unlimited potential as either foundation or complement to the original looks and styles created by the wearer. Rooted in tradition, breaking new ground in the present, creating new possibilities for the future – Kutnia is everything designer ready-to-wear should be and can be.
