S. McGee Collection

Shawna McGee is a successful women’s wear designer in New York City. Inspired by her seamstress mother, McGee studied fashion design at Cass Technical High School in her hometown of Detroit, Michigan. Upon earning a full scholarship to Parson School of Design, she enrolled in the Fashion Design Department. As an Undergrad, Shawna studied abroad in Paris, where she indulged in French couture and culture.

Since graduating from Parsons, she has enjoyed a full career working for some of the biggest names in the fashion industry. Shawna’s design experience has included everything from sportswear to accessories for Donna Karan and Louis Dell’Olio for Anne Klein, Ralph Lauren Sleepwear, and Adrienne Vittadini. Her work has appeared in magazines such as WWD, Elle, Essence, and Vogue.

Never one to limit herself, she has also designed costumes for Nell Carter on the television hit show “Gimme a Break” and for stars Donna Summer, El DeBarge, and Kenny Rogers for JCPenney. In addition to designing, McGee has used her talents and knowledge to teach promising new design students at her alma mater, Parsons School of Design, and the Fashion Institute of Technology. She also continues to collaborate with her dear friend Opal Stone who has a luxury line of custom-made handbags and fine jewelry under the label Opal Stone Fine Jewelry. Shawna and Opal have also collaborated with designer Sergio Hudson, featuring their jewelry for his New York Fashion Week Fall 2020 debut.

Shawna continues her excitement for fashion as a freelance designer/illustrator and artist in New York City.
